About Madisonville, LA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Madisonville, Louisiana is a small town found in St. Tammany Parish. Only about 750 people call Madisonville home, and the community is part of the New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner Metro Statistical Area. This town is found along the Tchefuncte River, near the place where the river meets Lake Pontchartrain. Madisonville was originally founded in 1800 by Jean Baptiste Baham, but after it was acquired by the United States it was renamed in honor of former U.S. president James Madison. The Madisonville Lighthouse, which was constructed in 1837, can be found here, but since its land route was destroyed in 1965 by Hurricane Betsy, it is only accessible by boat.
Madisonville is home to several notable attractions that attract both visitors and residents to the area. There are several museums located here that can allow visitors to learn more about the area, including the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum, Otis House, and the Madisonville Museum. Many visitors enjoy taking advantage of the great outdoors by spending some time at the Fairview-Riverside State Park or the Beau Chene Country Club. Local hotspot T River’s Bar also serves as a great place to relax with a cold drink after a long day out on the water.
The warm weather in Madisonville and the rest of the New Orleans area attract tourists and snowbirds to the region. Winters are an especially attractive time to visit, as the weather is generally mild and the season is short. This makes the winter season a great time for fishing and other outdoor recreational opportunities. While snow is rare, freezing temperatures do occur periodically, and when these cold fronts do push into the area, residents will need to rely on a home heat pump or furnace system.
Summers in Madisonville are usually hot and humid, with temperatures reaching the 90s. The muggy conditions can make being outdoors for extended periods of time unbearable. Residents will want to be prepared with an air conditioning system in place to keep them cool during the hottest conditions.
