About Harahan / River Ridge, LA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Harahan, Louisiana is a city found in Jefferson Parish. As of 2010, this New Orleans suburb was home to approximately 9,300 residents. Harahan was named for James Theodore Harahan, former president of the Illinois Central Railroad which runs parallel to the Airline Highway. Harahan is found in a heavily wooded area near the Mississippi River, and it is situated to the east of River Ridge. For the most part, Harahan was spared by water damage throughout Hurricane Katrina; however, wind damage was widely experienced.

There are a variety of attractions located in the Harahan and River Ridge areas. The Adventure Quest Laser Tag features 6,000 square feet of laser tag fun, and BooKoo Bounce is a great place for visiting families. Firearms enthusiasts may also enjoy a trip to the Shooters’ Club Firing Range, while outdoor lovers may enjoy spending a weekend camping at the New Orleans West KOA. Other notable attractions in the area include the Old River Road Plantation Adventure and Fly Water Expeditions.

Residents of the Harahan and River Ridge communities enjoy significantly warmer weather than other parts of the country. Summers are usually hot and humid, with high temperatures reaching the 90s. This season is often quite muggy, and it is the wettest time of the year. Residents will need access to a cool place to beat the heat throughout the summer months, as without access to an efficient air conditioning system, heat-related illnesses could become a real danger.

The warm summer temperatures carry over to the winter months, where average highs usually stay in the low-60s. Snow lovers may not be a fan of these conditions, as snowfall is rare, but outdoor enthusiasts often enjoy that the mild conditions provide a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Some cold snaps do push into the area, and a reliable heat pump or furnace will be needed to prevent pipes from freezing and to keep home interiors warm.
